A journey of a middle-class boy from Steel City

A dream born at college campus finds wings after a year and becomes a fascinating reality in a little known city of a lesser known state.  Bootstrapped in 2009, Globussoft has 5,000 customers in more than 50 countries across 5 continents and over 2 million users who consume its services via the web/mobile today. It touches the lives of over 50 million internet users globally with products and services.

Riding the Digital Revolution Wave
The world stated seeing computers around in the 1950s. Internet Protocol Suite was designed in 1982, and by 1995 the internet was opened to all grant everyone access to the new technology. This was the beginning of the digital revolution. In terms of digital communication, in 1993, only 1 % of the world’s communication was carried out using the Internet. By 2007, more than 97% of the world’s communication was being made through the internet and the World Wide Web.

This was the time when Sumit Ghosh, a young engineering student graduate from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh was dreaming of starting a software development company in a place where IT was starting to register its presence. Sumit Ghosh, Founder & CEO, Globussoft, saw the digital revolution coming fast. He knew the digital marketing space was expanding every passing moment. He knew then that he didn’t have any resources but just a dream and conviction to march ahead. So he took up the knocking opportunity to work with TCS through campus placement.

A Dream Calling
After about a year and a half with TCS, Sumit got a job offer letter from Microsoft IDC (India Development Center) based out at Bangalore. It was a very lucrative offer with a handsome package and greater learning opportunities. But destiny had something else in store for him. At the peak of his career and with a dream job in hand, Sumit left TCS and politely turned down the offer from Microsoft to return to the greatest dream he had cherished in his college days.

“I floated my dream company, while I was still in 5th semester of my BE Degree, with 5 of my friends. We started in our garage and had no idea what we were doing. We could feel the pulsating digital marketing world. We just wanted to start something of our own in this domain and Globussoft was born.  I booked the domain and created a bland site (by today’s standards) and voila! We were in Business”, recalls a nostalgic Sumit.

The Early Days
Seeing the digital marketing platform as the playground for brand to communicate and connect to, Sumit and his team started building software applications via online marketplaces like, etc. as that was the only thing they knew. But it gave them a lot of exposure about many things of the online world, how things worked online and how to build a business and company online.

The company started picking up and delivering the projects in the digital media space and developed the core competency in building innovative and cutting edge technology products for the digital marketing industry. While other friends parted ways for personal or family reasons, Sumit forged ahead and along the way Globussoft formed strategic partnerships to form JVs like Frompo, AuraRank, Shopify, Zuckup bringing out highly innovative and differentiated products in the digital marketing domain. Globussoft also partnered with leading global companies like Microsoft, Apple, Cisco, Zned, Oracle, Dell, IBM etc. to continue developing exceptional software products.

From A Learn Startup to Being the Largest Software Exporter of the State
Today after 5 years of inspection, Globussoft Technologies is a CMM – Level 3, Nasscom Certified, ISO 9001-2008 Certified, Microsoft Gold Certified Software Products Company touching lives of over 50 million internet user globally with Digital Marketing, Social Media Management, Local Search Marketing, Social e-Commerce, Deal Aggregators, Social Gifting, Social Dating, Vertical Search Engine, Education/Learning categories etc.

The company has also helped a lot innovative startups like,, etc. build their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) as a strategy directed towards making and selling a these novel to a customer base.

Remarkably, Globussoft has been largest software exporter from the state of Chhattisgarh for last three consecutive years while its business is valued at $10 million USD today. It also registered a 400% growth in annual revenues for FY2013. Interestingly, Globussoft is also one of the few technology companies in India that have hired a CTO from Russia to head its technology division that too at a lesser known town like Bhilai – its headquarter.
